| == Equipment ==
| |
| Unlike other classes, the Super Novice has a few pieces of equipment that are exclusive to Novices. The Angel Set is considered a Super Novice standard. They're all dropped by Mini-Boss Protocol monsters, and give fairly good stats. The Novice Card Set provides a good amount of Max HP and Max SP, especially at low levels. And the commonly known as the Light Gear, are able to be NPC purchased in Lighthalzen, except for the (Bought in Juno). Notably, they are cheap, they give more elemental reduction and are some of the few NPC equipments with slots. However, they aren't a true set, so the gear may be swapped out. Eden Group Equipments Quests are quite good for Super Novices because of the enhance Max HP and Max SP they provide.

Overview
A Super Novice is a special kind of class which exploits nearly every first class skill. Super Novices also sport highly effective armor and shields which reduce elemental attacks.
Super Novices are the most versatile among all classes have "true freedom" in build and skills. The downside to this freedom of skills is very low HP and SP, just like a regular Novice. Super Novices lose the use of the Play Dead skill and also lose exp upon death with 1 HP remaining, just like a regular first class. Super Novices only can equip anything a normal Novice would be able to, including specialized Novice only equipment.
Super Novices also have a Job Level of 99.
Additionally, Super Novices have their own unique cart, should they choose to get one.
About Expanded Super Novices
Job Change Quest
- Head to Al De Baran and go to the Windmill building in the southwest region of the map (aldebaran 116, 63). Enter the room to the left and talk to Tzerero.
- He will ask you to bring the following items:
- Once you bring the items, you will be changed into a Super Novice.
- Note: the next time you talk to Tzerero, he will immediately take the Items. Make sure to select "Huh?" in the following dialogue, if you select "What is that?", the Quest Items are wasted.
- In honor of successfully changing into a Super Novice, you will receive a pair of Panties.
Job Expansion Quest
- Head to Al De Baran and go to the Windmill building in the southwest region of the map (aldebaran 116, 63). Enter the room to the left and talk to Esseray.
- He will ask you to perform some tasks.
- Go to the northern Comodo Dungeon (beach_dun2 119, 92) and locate a Novice there who wants you to prove yourself to him. He tasks you with hunting 1000 Porings, Lunatics, Fabres, or Pickies.
- Return to Nodor, who tells you to visit his brother Nudor on the domestic Airship airplane3347.
- Donate at least 100,000 Zeny to Nudor.
- Note: The given amount may affect the equip reward.
- The conversation with Nudor has a 10% chance to advance, so keep talking to him until it does!
- Return to Nodor, who congratulates you, and:
- The player's Job Level will be reset to 1, and an additional 49 skill points can be earned up to Job Level 50. This also resets the player's Job Bonuses, which will revert back to +5 on all stats upon attaining Job Level 50. In addition, several Second Class job skills can now be learned by the player and will appear in a "2nd Job" tab in the skill window.
- The player's Base Level will remain 99, but the limit will be raised to 120. Stats can also be raised up to 120, similar to Third Classes.
- Gives you 1 Novice Breastplate [1] or 1 Undershirt.

Expanded Skills:
Since pure INT/DEX builds has almost no advantages compared to sage and bolt soul linker, INT based SN are mostly flee based, this build has very high flee rate. The main skills are Increase AGI 10 and Improve Dodge for flee, and the basic skill tree of a mage. This build has a regular cast time. INT is the primary stat, the skill Improve Concentration is optional (since is not possible to Instant Cast) although it increases the MATK, flee rate and reduces the cast time. It's possible to use Phen Card to prevents skill casts from being interupted.
The expanded SN have some AoE skills like Heaven's Drive and Frost Nova. And others like Water Ball that can deal great damage but can only be used in some especifc situations.

- DEX: 20~60
- LUK: 1~30
Skills:
Build quite similar to Combo Monks and Rogues, with good attack speed and damage. It can use high attack speed and use of Fury and Mental Strength to deal damage and survive, respectively. This gives the Super Novice an easy ASPD 190 with Awakening Potions, and can reach a very high DPS with this build, while still achieving survivability. Though it also can have lots of useful skills like shop skills, Magnum Break and Increase HP Recovery.
Critical
- STR: 80+
- AGI: 70+
- VIT: 40~50
- INT: 1
- DEX: 1
- LUK: 9+
Skills:
Utilizing the power of Fury, with a Soul Linker, it is possible to equip a Platinum Shotel (Crit +50) along with Fury, can allow 100% critical rate. Thought this build is only real effective when the Super Novice is over Base Level 96, especially when he is 99.

Expanded Skills:
This build is flexible, it can be used for support especially in small parties (2~5 players). You can heal as much as a priest, but it also can be used to attack with a regular cast time, similar to sages and wizards. The stats are quite similar to non-support AGI/casters, the diferences are only in the skills and some equipaments. The bolts, Heal, Bless and AGI are basic, but the Super Novice can have more support skills (like Provoke, Angelus, Cure, Detoxify, Decrease AGI and Safety Wall) or more offensive skills (like Fire Wall, Frost Diver, Thunderstorm, Napalm Beat, Soul Strike and Stone Curse). It's possible to use Phen Card to prevents skill casts from being interupted.
The expanded SN have some AoE skills like Gloria, Sanctuary, Quagmire and Frost Nova that can be used for support and ofensive.
Hybrid Build
- STR: 65~85
- AGI: 65~85
- VIT: 1+
- INT: 65~85
- DEX: 20~50
- LUK: 1~20
Skills:
This build is not as strong as pure INT or STR builds, but can handle deal with some tricky moments, using melee attacks when you're out of SP or in monsters with high magic defense (like MVPs). It can also deal ranged magical attacks and damage on high defense monsters. Is quite good using some autocast cards, equipment or weapons due the high attack speed that Super Novices can reach (eg. Kettle Hat, Bloody Knight Card, Gazeti Card, Hatii Bebe Card, Kasa Card, Mutant Dragonoid Card, Violy Card and Wind Ghost Card).
Secrets
Being a Super Novice has its benefits as well as disadvantages, and this class remains to be explored by many adventurers. Here are the secrets of Super Novicehood.
- Doridori
- Using the command
/doridori
restores HP/SP two times faster. You need to shake your head approximately 6 times in a 1.5 ~ 3s time period. A Super Novice insists that head-shaking supposedly speeds up his SP recovery. This only applies to HP and SP recovered by the skills Increase HP Recovery & Increase SP Recovery (Despite the description on the iRO website, this only affects SP recovery, not HP recovery at all)
- Guardian Angel
- A Super Novice has its own Level Up Angel. When leveling-up, this Guardian Angel is different from those of the other classes. The Angel will cast all skills from the following list, on the Super Novice:
- Never give up!
- According to hearsay, when a Super Novice's HP reaches 0 when he she is 99.0%-99.9%, their Guardian Angel may appear to refill his HP and cast Mental Strength on the Super Novice. This will not occur again until you relog or get another level.
- Undying Love
- A Super Novice wife will give +1 for every stat when she uses the marriage skill Undying Love on her husband. Also, the husband's SP recovery will double. However, the wife's stats will all be reduced by 1. This however only occurs randomly and temporarily.
- The Power of Love
- A Super Novice wife will heal her husband for 2x the normal amount.
- Really Super
- If a Super Novice can manage to avoid even a single death until Job 70 and onwards, he/she will get +10 for all stats. If the Super Novice dies anytime afterwards, that bonus will be lost. This death record can be cleared (and the bonus stats recovered) using Super Novice Spirit.
- Super Novice's Cart
- Super Novices get their own special cart for an extra fee (1900z) in Al De Baran behind the Kafra Headquarters in the Northwestern corner of the map.
- Fury
- A strange phenomenon when the Super Novice's experience reaches increments of 10% such as, at 10.0%, 20.0% - 80.0%, 90.0%. During these times, the Super Novice has been rumored to summon his Guardian Angel for help. If you change maps or relog, you have to repeat all the steps but otherwise you can just repeat the last 3 lines to get Fury status again. Type 7 lines of text (or you will be silenced) and then type the following phrase to get the Fury Status (CRIT +50):
- Dear angel, can you hear my voice?
- I am (your name) SuperNovice~
- Help me out~ Please~ T_T
- &
- - OR -
- Guardian Angel, can you hear my voice? ^^;
- My name is (your name), and I'm a Super Novice~
- Please help me~ T.T
- &
- & is random text. Sometimes you don't have write one more line after "Help me out" to make the effect activate.
Life After Level 99
Upon reaching Base Level 99, a Super Novice has a few new tricks up its sleeves.
- At the moment of reaching Level 99, a Super Novice gains +2000 Max HP permanently. This bonus is affected by cards, but not by VIT.
- The two Super Novice Secrets which depend on your current % of Base EXP can still be used, but you must continue leveling to gain the EXP required.
- To Fury, you must gain
n × 10.0x
million EXP (where n = 1,2,3,...).
- In order to use Mental Strength you must gain an additional 99 million EXP or more after obtaining Level 99 or 150.
- Upon attaining 99,999,999 EXP (as shown on the character Select screen), you will be able to use both the novice chant Fury and Mental Strength upon 0 HP.
- In order to go beyond Level 99, you have to complete a Quest.
