Overview

MS.PNG

Mastersmith is the pinnacle of the Blacksmith's career. The Mastersmith is able to create valuable items from any material they can get hold of. Plus, they have achieved the zenith of craftsmanship and can now upgrade weapons more efficiently. The Mastersmith also specializes in manipulating fire and using various weapons in battle.

The Mastersmith skill base grows upon the Blacksmith's Axe/Mace skills and received a lot of nice new skills. Although the class almost seems to be ignored by Gravity, or almost lowered in power compared to the other Reborn classes, Smiths still pose a dangerous threat to almost every class. They have the power to break Weapons and Armor while they're attacking their enemy with Shattering Strike (Meltdown) and then unleash a flurry of High Speed Cart Rams (Cart Termination). This class takes a lot of customization in order to make work properly and takes a lot of time and effort to play one well.

Being a class with high damage per second rating, Mastersmiths gained boosts in their skills that exploit their ASPD. One is the Shattering Strike skill that perpetuates use for their skill Weapon Repair due to the chance of it breaking a target's weapon or armor. Another noteworthy skill, HSCR(although over shadowed by their co-class' Acid Bomb as their new skill) is known to make characters with low VIT run for their lives. HSCR is another skill that benefits from ASPD.

Another note is that the Mastersmiths with their new skills drains more zeny than their non-rebirth counterpart.

Job Change Guide

Mastersmith classchange 0.gif

To become a Mastersmith, you must find a book called 'the Book of Ymir' in 'Sage Castle', Juno. The book will lead you to Valhalla so you can change your job through the Mastersmith Job NPC. Also you must reach Base level 50 and Job level Job Level 50 as a Transcendent 1st class character.

1. 'Sage Castle' is located at 11 o'clock direction (yuno 88,320) in Juno. 2. 'Book of Ymir' is located inside a room behind an NPC called 'Metheus Sylphe' (yuno_in02 88,164).

3. 'Book of Ymir' (yuno_in02 94,206) will teleport you to Valhalla. 4. Find and talk to the Job NPC suited to your 2nd class.

Builds

See Mechanic Builds for build strategies to work towards. See Blacksmith Builds for leveling strategies for just the Mastersmith leveling stages. Leveling a Mastersmith is similar to a regular pre-trans Blacksmith, but with a few new skill additions.

New Skills Overview:

High Speed Cart Ram is a very high DPS single target attack. This skill can even be used as a high level Mechanic for MVPing.

Cart Boost is required for High Speed Cart Ram, and is also helpful for increasing the Mastersmith's Movement Speed.

Maximum Power-Thrust is an improved version of Power Thrust, which only buffs the Mastersmith and not the whole party. It also has a zeny cost and the buff goes away if the Mastersmith changes gears.

Upgrade Weapon provides better weapon upgrade rates than an NPC, provided the Mastersmith is above job level 50.

Equipment

Eden Group Equipments Quests

Main article: Eden Group Equipments Quests

Most transcendent characters will have already completed some Eden Equipment quests already and can reuse the equipment. If the character has not done the quest yet, they can do it as a transcendent character as well. The Axe is a good weapon and generally a good choice for a Blacksmith and their future classes' use.

General Equipment Recommendations

Main article: Equipment

The Equipment article lists some general all purpose equipment that is useful through the PVM phase and also for endgame use as well.

Third Class Compatible Equipment

Main article: Mechanic Equipment

It is recommended to look at the Equipment recommendations for the Third Class job to see what equipment to strive for, rather than to spend a lot of money on a piece of equipment that will not be used in the future as a third class. However, some equipment may have a high level requirement, or are transcendent only.

Weapons

After considering what requirement skills have (some skills can only be used with certain weapon types), the Weapon Search tool within the iRO Wiki DB site is very helpful. Generally, for physical classes (both melee and ranged), something with high ATK is best. For magic classes, something with high MATK is best.
