1. Talk to Boshu in the Ninja Guild in Amatsu (147,136). He'll ask you to bring him a Guard[1].
2. After bringing him the Guard [1], Boshu will examine it (but will not take it from you), then offer to create a slotted version of the Arm Guard if you give him 1 Guard[1], 1 Arm Guard, and 10,000 Zeny. (Arm Guard [0]s can be bought from Boonray in the Ninja Guild's supply room.)
3. Give him the required items and pay the fee, and the player will receive a slotted Arm Guard.

1. Talk to Batshu in the Ninja Guild in Amatsu (147,136). He'll ask you to bring him a Mirror Shield.
2. After bringing him the Mirror Shield [0], Batshu will examine it (but will not take it from you), then offer to create a new version of the Arm Guard if you give him 1 Mirror Shield, 1 Arm Guard, and 20,000 Zeny. (Arm Guard [0]s can be bought from Boonray in the Ninja Guild's supply room.)
3. Give him the required items and pay the fee, and the player will receive an Advanced Arm Guard.

2. When you bring the items to him, you will receive an Advanced Arm Guard.
