Blade Stop (Alt: Root) is a 2nd class active skill available as a Monk.
Effect
Performs a stance that allows the user to "catch" an enemy when they use a normal attack against the user during the Time Frame, starting the Blade Stop status for both. During this status, only the user can attack, by using a skill that is determined by the level of this skill (unless the enemy is also a Monk class, see Notes). This skill only works on regular attacks and each cast uses a Spirit Sphere whether or not the enemy is caught. Boss monsters will only be effected by Blade Stop for 2 seconds.

2 | 0.7s | 10s | |

Notes
- Since this skill is of the Monk discipline, if the user blade stops a Monk class enemy, then the enemy can also use skills while in the Blade Stop status; which skills are available is determined by each player's level of Blade Stop.
- During the Blade Stop status, players/monsters will retain all of their original characteristics, except the inability to move or attack. They can be damaged, attacked, use items or even change gears.
- Blade stopped players/monsters are also susceptible to effects like knock-back (and it will not affect the Blade Stop status).
- Throw Spirit Sphere is weakened when used from Blade Stop, as Blade Stop itself consumes one Spirit Sphere.
- Blade Stop only works from Melee range. It can be used against Ranged attackers, but the user of Root must be within Melee range.
Applications
- Asura Strike only requires 4 Spirit Spheres to be cast in the Blade Stop status (since Blade Stop takes one Spirit Sphere to use) but still requires the Explosion Spirits status.
- It is possible to continue the Chain Combo to Combo Finish if the enemy is selected right after Chain Combo. This way, it is possible use the following combos:
- Root -> Chain Combo -> Combo Finish
